At this time, UnitedMasters allows the distribution of music created or assisted by artificial intelligence (AI), provided all submissions comply with our Terms of Service and Release Guidelines.
If a release is found to violate our Terms of Service or approval guidelines, then the release will not be approved.
Key Guidelines for AI Music Submissions
- Copyright Consideration: Releases must not contain unauthorized AI-generated voices of famous figures or artists, nor AI-generated beats that copy copyrighted songs, melodies, lyrics, and samples. Violations will result in rejection.
- AI Labeling: Streaming services may automatically flag or label your tracks to distinguish betweenAI-generated content and human-created content. Some of these labels may be visible to listeners. Each platform may also limit or remove AI tracks under its own policies, and we follow each platform's guidelines.
- Spam Restrictions: Although UnitedMasters offers unlimited submissions, accounts attempting to upload high volumes of AI-generated content may be flagged for spam. You can read more about this here: Spam Release Submissions
- Rights and Ownership: You must own or have the commercial rights to everything you upload. For tools like Suno, this means you had an active paid subscription when the track was created. Upgrading afterward does not apply retroactively to tracks made on a free plan.
- Keep Your Records: We recommend saving subscription receipts, creation dates, and drafts in case questions about a release come up later.
While most digital service providers (DSPs) currently allow AI-generated music, many are introducing stricter limits on how these tracks are monetized, recommended, and discovered. Keep in mind that AI policies vary by platform and are subject to change.
