What is Mastering?

UnitedMasters is offering artists the ability to enhance their tracks with Mastering, powered by RoEx. Mastering is the final polish, ensuring that your track sounds balanced and cohesive. It plays a vital role in making sure your music competes in terms of loudness and clarity and ensures your track sounds its best on any playback device.

We also offer an enhanced mastering experience with Mastering+. While standard mastering ensures your track sounds balanced and competitive, Mastering+ goes a step deeper by identifying and resolving issues at the mix level - delivering a noticeably richer, more dynamic difference.

This feature is accessible on all UnitedMasters platforms, including iOS, Android, and our web app. When you’re preparing to distribute your music to stores you’ll see the option of applying mastering to your tracks. Please note that 24-bit audio files may be converted to 16-bit during the mastering process.

Lastly, please note that this feature does not make your release available in Dolby Atmos (also known as “spatial audio”) on streaming services. For more information on Dolby Atmos, please see this support article.
