Adding an Artist

Background: Individual artists are the backbone of any independent label. Setting up these individual profiles for your roster artists is vital for proper mapping to Spotify and Apple as well as keeping track of their individual performance

Pro Tip: We recommend collecting the necessary Spotify and Apple Music artist profile URLs beforehand to have them ready for artist creation!

In this article we will explain how to:

1. Find your artist’s Apple and Spotify IDs from their profile URLs 
2. How to add artists to your label dashboard

Finding Spotify and Apple Music IDs from the URLs:

1. To find these IDs, start by plugging in the artist’s profile URL into a web browser
2. The Apple Music ID will be the final string of numbers at the end of the URL
   • 
3. The Spotify ID will be the end of the artist’s profile URI, which can be found by:
   1. Clicking on the three stacked dots on their profile
   2. Scrolling down to ‘Share’
   3. Hover over ‘Copy link to artist’ and hit Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) to display ‘Copy Spotify URI’ instead
   4. Click ‘Copy Spotify URI’

   5. Paste in a safe spot to later input when moving to part 2

Adding an Artist:

1. Start by logging into your UnitedMasters label account
   • If you have yet to receive an invite, please reach out to your designated UM label contact for assistance getting logged in!
2. On the home page, the second section is labeled ‘Artists’
   • Click the + Add Artist button in the top right corner.

   • 

3. Enter the IDs for the artist's existing Spotify and Apple Music profiles.
   • If the artist does not have any profiles yet, select "Missing Both Artist IDs"
   • Note - If an artist has different names between Apple and Spotify, the artist creation will fail. Please use the ‘Support’ button on the left side of your UM Dashboard for assistance!
4. Click ‘Add Artist To Roster’ 
5. To confirm the artist was properly created, please double-check they were added to the ‘Artists’ section of the dashboard!
