Uploading a Release or Re-Release

Background: The release upload process is the "instruction manual" for DSPs. Whether it’s a brand-new single or moving your back catalog (re-release) to our platform, precision in metadata (titles, credits, dates, etc.) and asset uploading ensures that there are no issues with distribution. 

In this article we will explain:

• How to upload content for one of your artists 
• Important parts of the upload flow to look out for
• What changes to make if you are uploading a re-release

How to upload a release:

1. To start, you will first need the artist added to your roster to upload on their behalf. If you are unsure of how to do this, please check out this article here.
2. Once you have an artist to upload for, there are a few different ways to start a new upload - 3 examples of which are included below (but there are more further down your dashboard):

3. After clicking ‘Distribute’ or ‘Release’ Music:
   1. Choose an artist to upload for
   2. Release Details Tab:
      1. Upload cover art - specs and guidelines are here.
      2. Add Release Title
      3. Select genre
      4. Enter label name
      5. Choose Release Type
         • Note: If a Re-release, please enter the original release date and the original UPC (if applicable)

You'll then want to upload your audio files - specs and guidelines are here. Go to the Track Details Tab and enter the metadata track by track:

1. Release title
2. Any 3rd party audio? If yes, please upload a license / agreement securing your rights to the material
3. Preview Timestamp. More on this here!
4. Lyrical Content Rating
   • Note: ‘Radio Edit’ (AKA ‘Clean’) only applies if there is currently an Explicit version of that track available
5. Add existing ISRC (optional)
   • Strongly recommended if the track already has an assigned ISRC!
6. Songwriter, Featured Artist, Producer
   • Only Songwriter is mandatory
   • Note: If Producer is left blank, your artist name will auto-populate in this field

8. Add lyrics (optional) - instructions for lyric delivery here
9. Choose pricing - default is $0.99 per track
10. Repeat this process for each track on the release
11. Choose Release Date
    • We do not recommend release dates within 5 business days, though the earliest available will be 2 business days
    • Pitching: Set a release date at least 3 weeks in advance to allow for playlist pitching!
12. Review and Submit!
