How do I set up my Wallet?
When you open the new Wallet tab, you'll be prompted to "Setup Your Wallet":
-
- You will then be guided through the required steps to add a payout method and completed tax form.
-
Once you’ve completed your Wallet setup, you’re all set to cash out your Wallet balance*!
- *please note that you must have a minimum of $20 USD in your Wallet balance in order to cash out if you are a non-paid UnitedMasters member.
Why do I have to provide my tax information?
US tax regulations require us to collect this information. To receive payments from UnitedMasters you must provide this information by filling out a W9 for domestic payments or a W8ben for international payments. Our new payment partner makes this simple by collecting the necessary data for you and automatically generating all end of year tax documents, such as 1099 or 1042-S forms.
UnitedMasters partners with a third party, Trolley, to manage tax/payment information and execute payment requests. We do not store your tax information in the UnitedMasters app or internal systems.
How long will it take for me to get paid for streams?
Your Wallet balance will be updated when we receive and process reporting and payment from music services (which is usually 45-60 days after the end of the month in which streams occurred, but can be longer depending on the music service).
- If you have a paid UnitedMasters membership, you can cash out any time you have enough funds in your Wallet balance to cover payment processing fees.
- If you have a non-paid UnitedMasters membership, you can cash out any time you have at least $20 USD in your Wallet balance.
Why are there transaction fees?
UnitedMasters partners with a third party, Trolley, to process payments. Any transaction fees simply cover the cost of the transfer.
How long will it take for me to get paid for a Sync placement?
If you have provided all the necessary documentation, you will receive payment within thirty (30) days of the calendar month in which your track was licensed. You can see all pending payments by logging into the Trolley payment portal directly.
Why am I seeing earnings in my statement broken out between US streams and non-US streams?
We’re striving to provide as much transparency as possible into when and how your music is earning for you. You’ll now see for any monthly statement the total earnings broken out between US streams and non-US streams as well as the breakout for any individual song in the Top Tracks section of your statements.
Can I access previous royalty statements in my Wallet?
You can view your monthly statements in your Wallet by tapping “View Reports”:
- You’ll see your total earnings to-date on the left and (by default) everything else shown on the page will be for the most recent month of earnings.
- To view a different month, tap on the calendar icon and month name at the top right to bring up the date picker.
- To download a report, tap on the download icon. If this is the first time you are accessing a royalty statement for the relevant month, you will be prompted to generate your statement.
- Once your statement has been generated, you will be able to download the royalty statement in the format of your choosing (.PDF or .CSV).
How do I read payment statements?
With the launch of Flex Payouts in March 2023, we also updated the way that statements in your Wallet are named, to reflect when the payments in the statement were actually posted. For example, if you have an April 2023 statement in your UnitedMasters account, you’ll now see the payments that were posted in April 2023 (instead of the payments that were posted in May 2023).
And, for statements posted since March 2023, the start and end dates in the statements will also now reflect the month in which the payments were posted.
Since we usually receive reporting and payment from music services 45-60 days after the month in which streams occurred, statements will reflect a streaming period of two months prior to the current month (meaning that, if your music was streamed in October, you will receive reporting and payment for those streams in December at the earliest).
If it seems like you're unable to view streams from a particular music service, keep in mind that certain music services provide royalty payments later than others, with some taking months to send final payments. We pay out royalties as they are received from music services - so, if you’re not seeing a particular music service in your royalty breakdown, it is likely that they have not sent us reporting and payment for your music yet. Please be assured that your statements will always reflect reporting and payment that we have actually received in connection with your music.
