Do I have to include a copyright notice?

A copyright notice is optional but is a good way to indicate that you are the owner and that your work is protected by copyright. You should include the following to indicate copyright protection  in an appropriate location, such as the cover of your album: 

For a musical work:

© Year (of first publication) Copyright Owner’s Name

For a particular sound recording or phonograph:

(p) Year (of first publication) Copyright Owner’s Name

UnitedMasters, and many music services, will automatically display a copyright notice for your release that uses the “Label” information you provide during the submission process (or, if you do not provide “Label” information, your artist name).
