After you fill out an OAC request form, you may be contacted by a member of UM's Senior Support team if additional information or edits are required prior to your request being submitted to YouTube.
Below are some of the most common reasons your OAC request may be rejected:
1. You provide a “Release - Topic” or “Various Artists - Topic” Channel:
Per YouTube's eligibility criteria, you will need your own “Artist Name - Topic" channel.
Please note that your releases will be mapped to a "Release - Topic" or “Various Artists - Topic” channel when it is either your first release or a topic page is currently processing for your content. Typically, it takes YouTube about 30 days to make these changes and map your music to the correct topic channel.

2. You have mismatched names across your personal and topic channels:
Per YouTube's eligibility criteria, the name on your personal channel must match the name on your topic channel/ UM profile exactly.
If there is any differentiation between artist names across your channels, your request cannot be submitted to YouTube.
✅
3. You provide an invalid channel ID or URL:
Per YouTube's eligibility criteria, you must provide a valid topic channel ID/URL and a valid personal channel ID/URL.
To locate your topic channel ID/URL:
You can search your artist name in YouTube Music, click on the corresponding artist profile, and remove "music." from the URL to find your topic channel ID/URL.
To locate your YouTube Channel ID, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to your YouTube channel.
-
Click on the "More" option on your channel page.
-
A screen will pop up. Select "Share Channel" and then click on "Copy Channel ID." By following these steps, you will have successfully retrieved your Channel ID and can use it for any related purpose.
You can use this helpful guide from YouTube that will walk you through the process of finding your personal channel ID.
4. You do not have matching content across your personal and topic channels:
Per YouTube's eligibility criteria, you must upload a full-length release to your personal channel that also resides on your topic channel (YouTube Shorts do not suffice).
